Blaengarw Primary is a Community Primary School. The language category of the school is the medium of English with Welsh taught as a second language. The school opened as Blaengarw Primary in January 1996 following the amalgamation of the former infant and junior schools. The number on roll is currently 182 in total. It serves the village of Blaengarw in the Garw Valley. The school caters for children between the ages of 3 and 11 years.
The building is over one hundred years old and is organised along traditional lines with seven classrooms in total. An extensive refurbishment programme was undertaken in 1995. As a result, the school’s classrooms are comfortable and well organised with carpeted areas throughout.
The community park provides an additional facility for learning out of doors and includes a multi-purpose games court, a three lane-racing track and seating. This is available for the school’s exclusive use during the school day and the local community at other times.
